Welcome to the second season of “Who’s Out There,” a podcast series about the individualistic quest in spiritual warfare.
Theological paradigms are amongst the most progressive and justifiably volatile sects of progressive growth within our global civilization.
In season 2, aptly named “A New Testament,” I sit down with academics, leaders, influencers, and the new era of religious journalists who share the intrinsic complexities of how they are currently interpreting a shifting spiritual worldview.
Episode 1: The Primary Essence of Life
I sit down with a theologian in Practical Theology and Historical Mission Studies, Professor Christo Lombaard, as we chat about building religious constructs on what might be interpreted as sometimes, somewhat broken foundations.
In this episode, Christo takes us through the essence of “being”, through the introduction of sound. For as God spoke, and it was so. In all cultures touched by the idea of post-modernism, we might be selling out the primary experience of creation.

Episode 2: Reality as Emptiness VS Reality as Overabundance
In this episode, Christo explains how the paradigms of “reality as emptiness” and “reality as overabundance” have contributed to molding the diverse approach to religion.

Episode 5: Painting a Picture of God and His People
I visited the office of Professor Danie Veldsman, the HOD of Systematic Theology at the University of Pretoria. In what was a great learning curve, I sat down with Danie as he explained the complexities of systems, subsystems, and ecosystems, which all tie into shifting intrinsic paradigms and the paradoxical worldview.
In this episode, I get a crash course on the 3 base elements of approaching a current systematic understanding of interpreting the Biblical gospel.
Episode 6: Personifying Imagination as a Construct from God
In this episode, Danie discusses understanding how we should define our reality—our reality in God—and the reality of an “Imagination Construct” that molds the pragmatics of systematic theology.
Episode 7: Son of Man? Son of God? Or the Son of Abstract Belief?
In this last episode with Danie, we discuss the abstract approach to developing a belief system, which is littered with chaos and controversy. We also discuss how the tension between the church and theological studies is preventing the progressive growth of the Word among everyday Christians.
Episode 8: Reboot Imagination – The Doorway to Spirituality
I had breakfast with Dr. Soula Apostolidis, who has her PhD in Theology, specializing in spirituality.
In this episode, we speak about her focus on adolescent spirituality, and how fantastical storytelling is a great catalyst for one to shape a healthy belief system.
Episode 9: The Potter-Verse As a Case Study for Spirituality
In this episode, Soula delves deeper into the story of Harry Potter and its narrative of living a life with morals, opportunities, and a connection to the divine.
Episode 10: “Faith Through a Child’s Eyes”
I sit down for coffee and conversation with Dr Annemarie Oberholzer. She has a doctorate in nursing and a post-doctorate in Christian Spirituality, focusing on the exploding field of religion and healthcare.
She also leads an NPO called Hospivision that provides amongst many other services, spiritual care to patients in public hospitals.
For information, support, and volunteering, hop onto their landing page hospivision.org.za
In this episode, we discuss Annemarie’s segue from nursing to spiritual practices and then move on to how a child undergoing healthcare has an inspirational faith foundation that we can all respect and follow. We end with some very interesting stats that reveal the plus side of facing health battles while keeping your faith.
Episode 11: “Keep Holding Onto Your Faith”
In this episode, faith is a deep-seated belief system. Integrating faith and life decisions, we hear Annemarie discuss certain case studies with her patients and examples to help us better understand the power of faith.
Episode 12: “The Good News About Public Healthcare Services”
In this episode, we talk about working with patients, outreach programs, and how public healthcare is always ready to step up to offer greater service.
