My time at 919FM has been an opportunity to return to one of the things I love most about radio — the power of a great conversation.
As the host of The Sunday Revolution, I have had the privilege of sharing the microphone with fascinating guests, exploring important issues, discovering new perspectives and creating moments that go beyond simply playing music.
This blog post brings together some of my best moments on air at 919FM — a personal showcase of some of my favourite interviews, features, conversations and memories from the show.
From thought-provoking conversations with members of the community and fascinating guests, to lighter moments, personal stories and some of my favourite recurring features, these clips offer a glimpse into the range of content we created on The Sunday Revolution.
For me, radio has always been about people and conversation. It’s about asking the questions, listening to the answers and creating a space where stories can be shared honestly and authentically.
This collection is a celebration of my time at 919FM so far — the guests who joined me, the conversations that challenged me, the features I enjoyed creating and the moments that reminded me why I love being behind a microphone.

My time on air at 919FM has allowed me to do what I love most about radio — have meaningful conversations with people from completely different walks of life.
In Part 1 of my 919FM On-Air Showcase, I look back at three conversations that, in very different ways, represent what I believe radio should be about: entertaining, challenging perceptions and telling stories that matter.
Tom London — a conversation that allowed me to explore the person, the journey and the story behind the public persona.
The Car Guard Conversation — I stepped away from the studio and had a conversation with a car guard about the realities of his job and the misconceptions that many of us carry about people who work on our streets every day. Sometimes the best way to challenge a perception is simply to listen.
A Teacher’s Perspective — I sat down with my sister, who has spent more than 30 years as a primary school teacher, to unpack the changing realities facing teachers and learners in a modern world. Education has changed dramatically, and so have the pressures on both sides of the classroom.
People have stories worth hearing. That’s the core of great radio.
This is a snapshot of what I try to bring to the microphone: curiosity, empathy, honesty and the willingness to ask questions beyond the obvious.

PART 2 | WHEN RADIO STARTS THE CONVERSATION
Some of the most important conversations on radio aren’t necessarily the easiest ones.
In Part 2 of my 919FM On-Air Showcase, I look back at three interviews that demonstrate another side of what I try to do behind the microphone — create a space where difficult subjects can be explored, challenged and discussed openly.
THE COLOURED COMMUNITY CONVERSATION
Following the controversy surrounding an Open Chats Podcast episode in August 2025, which sparked widespread criticism over derogatory and offensive comments about South Africa’s Coloured community, I brought together friends and representatives of the community to have a conversation about the issue.
Rather than simply adding to the noise, the objective was to listen.
What does it feel like when an entire community is stereotyped? Where do these perceptions come from? And how do we have difficult conversations about identity, culture and prejudice without becoming part of the problem?

I also sat down with Clinical Hypnotherapist and Neuro-Behavioural Life Coach Anna-Mart van Wyk, who holds DipCH and DipNeuroC qualifications and is registered with the International Coaching Council and the National Hypnotherapy Council in the UK.
We explored the mind, behaviour and the ways in which our experiences can shape the way we think, react and live.

And then there was author Gavin Tucker, whose book If You Won’t Say It, I Will deliberately goes where many people won’t.
It’s a sharp, humorous and provocative collection of essays tackling modern life, political correctness, social media, hypocrisy, cancel culture and the things people often think but aren’t necessarily prepared to say out loud.
The conversation was exactly what the title suggests — an opportunity to say it, discuss it and challenge it.
They weren’t about having the easiest conversation. They were about having the conversation.
That’s what I love about radio.
